When I was visiting Portland, Oregon, I watched an LCD TV about the size of an iPad. They seemed to be popular.

We may have come full circle - the first TV I ever saw had a 10" screen. Now we are going for even smaller.... life is curious....

Yes, unfortunately. The retired US Army captain with whom I was staying as a guest sent me away from his house; and I had to return to Helsinki, Finland. That happened as I was in the process of seeking employment in the USA. That work was discontinued as I had to leave back for Finland. And, more strange things happened -- the Linux Foundation in Oregon did not even answer my e-mails.

A small aside here.
A few years ago an 'expert' with far too much spare time on his hands, calculated that if the internal combustion engine had not been invented, and the city of New York had continued to grow, the population would need the labour of about 20 million horses to carry the freight and passengers etc all over the city.
Those 20 million horses would have produced 20 million gallons of urine, and 20+ million kilograms of excreta, and need 20 million Kgs of food EVERY DAY!
