I wish I could post pictures on this Forum.
I have a group pic of the survivors of the 8th Battalion, after the Battle of Broodeseinde Ridge on the 4th October. Leslie Gordon Kittle is in mid photo of the 40 men still able to front the camera. That is 40 out of about 800!
I can only assume that it was artillery that killed Victor Stanley Rowe on the 12th October. Hopefully it was quick but was probably not, pure luck one way or the other I expect.
