The old Forum has seen better days; time for a change.

Does anyone have news on Jim Heaton?

I did get a chuckle out of Tet's comment "I wore myself out trying to inject a little military into it"

Well, the Compuserve military forum is gone. Somehow, I feel sad, because I spent many happy hours there when it was the place to go for military issues.
But at least we have this place.

I asked Jack Hammond what the forum was like at its peak, and he said that, after the First Gulf War, the forum had 35,000 members between 1992 and 1995. But many of them just registered and didn't do anything - which we are seeing in this forum.
I got on just before the turn of the century, and there was quite a bit of activity, including postings from James Dunnigan, author of "How to make war". Then CS refused to move with the times, and so we are here now.

Now that he is gone, I think I can tell you that Tet is a decorated hero with a DFC for doing something I doubt I could do.
He was in a chopper doing an extraction of surrounded troops about to be over-run near the Cambodia border, and after all the wounded etc had been loaded, he went out and did a search for strays.
Well done Tet! "I dips me lid".
