The Japanese could not have severed our lines, but we sure as hell severed theirs.

The U.S. launched 1 liberty ship every 10 days they made more machine guns in 1 month than Japan did in the entire war every piece of ground Japan gained in 2 years they lost it in 2 years Japan screwed up big time with Pearl Harbor ...

You want stats? www.combinedfleet.com/economic.htmYou got 'em! The bit that fascinates me is the fact that a 100% reversal of the Midway result would have added no more than 6 months to the war in the Pacific. SJ

Japan screwed up big time with Pearl Harbor ... They claimed they were forced into the war because the white people prevented them from earning a living, but they conveniently ignored what they did in China, not to mentioned what they did after they took of the rest of Asia.

Brutality will only take you so far before it bites you in the arse its incredible that Japan thought it could take on the U.S. They thought their Yamato Damashii, or Japanese fighting spirit, could overcome material odds - they were wrong.

Yes the Japanese did have the fighting sprit but they were fighting people that were pissed off . Agreed, and they didn't realize that the people who were pissed off also had their fighting spirit, something Churchill noted in his history of the Second World War.

I think it is a Chinese proverb, "Do not awaken a sleeping tiger" and Yamamoto said a similar thing after Pearl Harbour.
I must say I often wonder if America could fight another WW2 like they did back then. Industrial capacity is well down and new factories and skills would have to be re-built from the ground up. I wonder that the US is intending to fight the first and last battle in WW3 all on the same day.
Saddam learned that the hard way.
