I'm a neoconservative, and I believe in intervention to make the world safe for democracy. That's why I supported the invasion of Iraq, just as I support staying in Afghanistan, because we want to ensure schoolgirls can go to school without fear. So I was in favor of the liberals in the White House who started the bombing campaign in Libya to oust Kaddafi, especially since he did challenge the neoconservative icon, Ronald Reagan, way back when. But there is now fear that our actions helped the radical Islamic groups come into power, which would not be in our interest or the interest of anyone in the Middle East.

That is the danger in the mid-east. Democracy, in that it gives the vote to all, does not mean that the nation will, automatically, become western friendly. It is entirely possible that the majority of the voters will be anti-western, since they were raised that way....

From WND: Whoa! Look who wants to legitimize Algerian terrorists The smoke hasn't cleared in Algeria yet ... we don't know how many hostages taken at the BP oil facility were killed in the rescue attempt ... or how many hostages are still being held by the al-Qaida-linked jihadists who took them captive. But we do know this ... We know the name of the Obama nominee who has been seeking legitimacy for these terrorists and who has been pressuring the Algerian government to cease its "excessive" military activities against the group. If Obama is serious about ending gun violence, maybe he should start here………… TEL AVIV – Secretary of defense nominee Chuck Hagel sits on the small board of a peace fund that finances an international “crisis management” group that long has petitioned the Algerian government to cease “excessive” military activities against al-Qaida-linked jihadists, WND has learned. The organization, the International Crisis Group, or ICG, called on Algeria to grant legitimacy to the very al-Qaida-linked group reportedly behind the kidnapping of about 40 foreign hostages, including several Americans, at a natural-gas field in Algeria.
