Apr[l 18 2018 there was the Official Dedication of the Memorial to All the Pilots and Crewmembers Who lost their Lives over the Friendly skies of Vietnam at Arlington Cemetery in DC ..

None other than his eminence..the dedication gave me pause to remember some of the terrible battles I was in and survived .. my only regret is that swampy wasn't there to find out what combat was really like ..

I read recently that it took 250,000 rounds of ammo to kill EACH bad guy in VN.
That ratio improved greatly after Tet left VN.

I have read in USAAF stats that it took an average of 12,000 rounds of .50 cal to down a german aircraft "Heavy Bombers", B17s and B24s.
I do wonder just how many B17s were shot down by other B17s in the heat of the moment.
...and as for the VC on the ground, they say to avoid being hit by a door gunner they should stand very still!

I hear that, for the ground kills in WW2, it took 50,000 rounds of ammo to kill a soldier, though I don't know if it's 50,000 for the US soldier to do that or overall.
