Shortly after I moved from Saigon to Long Binh (Back when Win Kao Key [spelled phonetically for those who were never in Vietnam] was Vietnamese Chief of Staff), the flush toilet in my air conditioned trailer became plugged up and I called the Post Engineers to report the problem and have it fixed. Thinking that my life would soon be returned to contented bliss with no sewage fumes to disrupt my luxury, I returned to work.
I was soon interrupted by my gorgeous Vietnamese secretary who announced that Win Kao Key [again phonetically] was on the phone for me. Wondering what the Vietnamese Chief of Staff would be wanting to talk to me about, I nervously picked up the phone and answered in my best military voice, "Col Rosie, Sir, How may I help you?"
The reply was "This is Major Winkowski -- about your toilet....."
Honest to God's truth...

I have had similar experiences because of my last name (Osha) but never with anyone of high rank. However, as a 1SG needing assistance from Post Engineers or the like, simply the mention of my name brought immediate attention to what ever problem I was complaining about for my unit.
