I wasn't busy this afternoon so I joined all the other old farts and went to a matinee to see Zero Dark Thirty (we used to say Oh dark thirty when I was in, but...) and enjoyed it very much. I'm sure there was a lot of creative imagination used, but it was entertaining. I was ready to re-up!

I'm surprised that so many of the SEAL Team Six memebers left the military, even when it means not getting their pesion after 20 years. I've been wondering about that - why not stay a few more years and collect?

While I agree with your questions, unless you have been in the military, and more specifically in combat, you will never understand what would motivate a person to just get out after they have served more than 10 years rather than staying 20 to retire. I read where the Shooter said he wasn't aware of the benefits he would be giving up by getting out early. That's pure BS or he is the dumbest person to ever have served and I seriously doubt that's the case.
There were many times in my career that I wondered why the ehll I was staying in. I didn't have to face the ground combat that many did (mine was in the air) so it was "easier" for me. But there were many times in the 70s where being a career soldier wasn't the smartest thing in the world to be.
