I read about that somewhere and just promptly forgot about it because ot didn't affect me. I wonder if their version has as many mechanical problems as does ours? So far I've been very lucky as I've not had a single problem other than losing a windshield due to a rock being thrown up while travelling on the interstate.

Local drive test reports here rate Mahildra a couple of levels above China made vehicles but well behind Japanese, Korean and other manufacturers. From my close inspection of the 7 seat wagon with 2.2 litre diesel and 6 speed transmisson AWD the finish was quite good. Mahildra claim to have had Lotus design and tune the suspension but the road tests were accepting of the dynamics but short on praise.

I'm nowhere near a mechanic so I can't equate what your saying to my Jeep. However, I suspect you know a great deal more than I do so the following may help.
Mine is a 2012 four door with three convertible (removable) top panels, 3.7 liter, automatic, four wheel drive with stock (not off road) tires. I get about 18 mpg (sometimes 20 while driving longer distances). Not my father's Jeep by any stretch of the imagination.

Over recent years they seem quite popular here in OZ. Only been on the market here in RHD for about 5 years I think. A bit expensive!
