Glad to hear it, I expected that it would have been a very unpleasant way to die. Sucked dry by 511 ticks! I wonder how they got there in the first place? SJ Perhaps from something it ate that was full of ticks. Or from a grassy area that is full of ticks. It's doubtful that the ticks would kill the snake. But I would not go as far as saying it could not happen. But it's in the parasites best interest not to kill its host, and is somewhat rare for ticks to do such, even in such fairly high numbers. The host getting sick and uncomfortable is another issue. But often, ticks cannot even be felt. Also, the diseases they carry can be another issue to some hosts--such as us humans. -Don- Auburn, CA

Anyway I am trying to convince Nth Americans to come to Australia to see and cuddle our native fauna.

Compare the top photo of the snake to the bottom photo. Look at the eyes. The snake has shed its skin. I wonder why they didn't even mention that fact. -Don- Auburn, CA

I doubt the ABC - Australian Broadcasting Commission (Taxpayer funded >1 billion a year) would know or care, they only think of politics.

I prefer cats to snakes, but I wonder why they don't say that for dogs or pet rabbits.
