I'm a passionate student of WW2, and, since this is the 80th anniversary of the start, here's a retirement proposal.
Master every major language of the combatants - Chinese, French, German, Japanese, and Russian - travel to all the major archives which talk of the major theatres, and write a multi-volume military history, including as many small and medium battles that you can.
