I have friends there, and I'm mad as hell at Putin. I'm also glad that Russians are demonstrating against him. This is in the General section, not its own section such as "Vietnam" etc. But I guess it will do if you cannot make a new section. I am mad at Putin also. And I have a good reason to be! My Energica Experia motorcycle that I ordered on June 1 should have been here by now. But the harness for them are made in Ukraine and that is the big holdup. I realize that Putin made the biggest mistake of his life trying to invade Ukraine. Like many wars, it isn't as easy as it sounds. I assume he thought the war would be over in a week or so, as the invaders in most wars probably believe. It's never easy when you invade and have countless people who want to defend their own country. What would be the smart thing for Putin to now do? He has to know he not only lost the war big time, but he is making Russia much weaker by the day. But he cannot admit that he screwed up so badly. But is he fooling anybody at all? I don't think so. At this point, I think he should just admit he made a big mistake--and even apologize to Ukraine. But I don't think that will happen. No doubt Putin goes to bed every night wondering why he decided to invade Ukraine. There must be many even in Russa that want him dead. I feel sorry for the Russian soldiers. I doubt if they really volunteered for it. No doubt they would rather not be in Ukraine. Especially when they know they have their asses kicked in so hard already. -Don- Reno, NV

Could the end of the world be coming soon? IIRC, Russia has more nukes than the USA and either country has more than enough to end all life on earth. -Don- Reno, NV

...which is why they will NOT be used.
And life in the northern hemisphere may well be ended, but much of the southern hemisphere will survive. If fact I would guess that the countries of this hemisphere will be considered a war prize for the 'victor'.

...which is why they will NOT be used. War is never logical. Even the "winner" loses a lot. Look how much Ukraine is getting screwed up by their winning of the war. What did they win? Nothing at all. What did they lose? A lot! So what makes you think man is so logical? -Don- Reno, NV

2 reasons, mutually assured destruction, and mutual TERROR!
And Ukraine is fighting for its life, and how do you equate that with the military and human cost?

I'm a neocon, so I think a nuclear war is not only survivable, it's winnable.

Putin is now drafting its war protesters for the war in Ukraine. He will soon have even more people in Ukraine who will refuse to fight. I can even see mutiny coming.
Putin just cannot admit he lost the war already. Is he trying to destroy Russia completely or what?

So what is your (anybody's) guess that Putin will do next?
Seems to me he has two choices:
1. Admit he screwed up big time and that he lost the war already. If he doesn't, he will destroy Russia even more. Wait . . .he is already doing that!
2. Use nukes. Kinda scary, IMO. That could even end the world, anybody else take his threats serious?
Think about this.
How often do politicians admit they screwed up? Even here in the USA?
That leaves Putin with only one option. He already destroyed Russia and his own life about as much as possible. He may feel he may as well take the entire world with him. He has little to lose.
Hopefully, somebody in Russia figures a way to blow his head off soon! That could be our only hope.

If he uses nukes against a non nuke nation he will trigger a mad scramble to get nukes too. Germany and Poland come to mind, not to mention Japan and Sth Korea. Maybe even Taiwan.
Farewell NPT.

SJ The problem there is how many innocent people are we/they going to kill to get to one man? Most of those in Russia are on the same side as we are. That makes it a major problem. The very best outcome possible is for somebody in Russia to blow Putin's head off. Another problem is Putin knows that as well as we do. He won't make that easy to do. -Don- Auburn, CA

A nuclear war is not only survivable, it's winnable - if he starts, I say we finish not only with Russia but also with North Korea and, maybe, China.
