I've just started this forum, which will focus on military issues and related political matters, but I'm easy going, so we can about non-military issues as well.
There's no one else here, so I guess I'm just talking to myself. Actually, I do that all the time, don't I?

Hi Stanley,
Now you can at least talk with me, boring though that may be to you. Thanks for starting up this venue for all of us to continue the forum. Much will depend on how the other forum continues but I like the fact that this forum may not face the threat of CompuServe forcing its' will on us.

It's my pleasure - actually, I like talking ABOUT myself more than I like talking TO myself. Now, if I was to talk TO myself ABOUT myself ... ;D

G'Day all!
The Sir John is a reference to me searching the New Years Honours List, and the Queens Birthday Honours List for my name, but it never happens. I wonder why? No friends in high places I suppose.
It may be changed to 'Old Codger', which is my usual moniker in the utopia called Australia.
Personally, I think it is time to let the old MilForum die.
"The Forum is dead, long live the Forum".

Hello John. Welcome to the forum. How have you been? Is your son in the military now?

Hi Stanley. Thanks for setting up this forum. Compuserve must be learning its management skills in North Korea.

Funny that you would mention North Korea - I am going to post some interesting news about Compuserve, I mean North Korea and Dear Leader (or whatever his title is).
Are there any categories/topics you want me to create?

G'Day Tim,
Good to see you have joined, I hope we see a lot more of you in future.
Yes, grandson Tom is still in the OZ Army. His presently awaiting his transfer from the Armoured Corps to RAEME - Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. He is 22 now and had 2 trips to "the sand pit" and is looking to a skill he can take outside, in this case Electrical Engineer.
He will re sign and be out in about 8 years.
Tom and a couple of mates are flying to Dallas/FW (19 bloody hours) in September to begin a drive to FL and then north to DC and NYC.
Tom's sister is a Fl Lt in the RAAF, and is presently the ADC to the CDF (Chief of Defence Force). It is a 24/7 job! Tom's dad is a Captain in the OZ Army Aviation Regiment. He is due for retirement soon.
Best wishes,
John

What's your grandson's rank?

Stanley,
Trooper! The entry level rank, the same as a Private. He has been in a bit less than 4 years so far.

I've created your requested categories, and I've made the first post in current international affairs.

Great news John. Have you or your son had any contact with the U.S. Marines in Darwin?

Hello to all.
Yes Stanley, you could start a political section.
My firist thoughts were the problem in the Military forum could have been lack of membership. But that does not hold as it seems their intent was to continue the forum. Whatever, it seems they wanted to play secrets and one-upmanship.

Hi All!! So good to see you here and many thanks to Stanley for starting this forum. Tim and John it has been so long that you have a lot of catching up to do with all members of the old forum and hopefully some new folks here.
I have not read the Terms of Service here yet, but hopefully they will be a bit less PC than over at that 'other place'.
