what I truly don't understand is what is the purpose of the Queen and other Royals ? the Royals don't gover anything . Tradition and tourism and value for money in promoting the nation. In short.

Prem,
Just ignore MS, he likes to stir the pot to get SJ's goat.

I do wonder if MS has been reincarnated from an American home in 1776.
His antagonism for the British in general, and the Monarchy in particular, seem far out of date in 2013. I do not believe his views are simply 'bait".
And i do wonder just how many Americans out of 315 Million, share them.
Personally I thing the job is the worst on the planet, and i would not do for ANY money. Her life is not her own, and it has been TAKEN from her by the accident of birth.

The Empire has a number of people that excel James Bond for instance , but the Royals are a wonder that defies description though the Subjects seem to need them for what ever reason , no doubt Liz would have been a star in any latitude , but then you have Charles , Hariy , Fergie Diana an Anne lets not forget her .

The Empire also provided us with fish and chips . Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. I RARELY say anything negative about anything British (or Australian) but I have to draw the line here. English RB and pudding are HORRIBLE!!!!!! I could name any number of foods here in the states (some of which you have mentioned previously) which will whet your palate. But just thinking of RB and pudding makes me want to puke!

Denny I once spent an Easter weekend in Hull, my work colleague travelling with me was born there and came to Australia in his early 20s, we were taken to a country hotel/pub where the YP looks like a hollow loaf of bread and the RB and gravy is placed inside, RB well cooked and spiced. I really enjoyed my meal served with roast vegetables and green peas, and beer of course.

I like my RB RARE, quivering and still bellowing (remember, I'm from Texas). As far as pudding is concerned, the only kind I like is the "pudding" that is formed when I've been cutting rocks for a month or so (you need to understand lapidary to understand this).
