I guess no one has started anything on this topic yet because you are either in mourning, on the way to Canada or still asleep.
Yep, he won, and rather convincingly. Hurricane Sandy helped him enormously as did the last 10 days or so of him reaching for Republicans. He looked and acted presidential. He related to the common folk much more than did Romney. I said early on that, despite of political differences that he was the type of PERSON that I could have a beer with, and that translated to the rest of the country as well.
The GOP is rapidly becoming a dying party. They HAVE to make a bold effort to draw in the Hispanic vote and do it soon, if it isn't already too late. The GOP is currently old people, churchgoers. Tea Party (many of the same type as just mentioned) and the like and very little more. They must make a serious effort to change and they need to do it now. They don't have anyone to lead the party so someone needs to step up. It should be Rubio as that would kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.
Why do I have this attitude of acquiescense? Because most of us who are retired military fall in line and say yessir, yessir two bags full. That's what we were taught to do. We may not like it but that's the way it is. We'll bitch a little and then keep on marching.
The good thing is that the election is over and we don't have to put up with it for another two years. I hope by the time the GOP is viable.

Yep, he won, and rather convincingly. Even more shocking than Obama's unexpected landslide victory is how marriage equality won in every state there was an issue. And it's the first time approved by voters anywhere. I am very happy with how it all turned out. Almost everything came out the exact same way as I voted (or as I would have voted if I were in some other states). I guess most Americans now know to vote as I do! ;D -Don- SF, CA

>>Even more shocking than Obama's unexpected landslide victory<<
How do you figure it was a landslide victory.? The popular vote came out Obama 59.8 million, Romney 57.2 million.
The electoral count gets skewed when you have that winner-take-all rule.

>>Obama told the crowd (today) he hoped to sit down with Romney in the coming weeks and examine ways to meet the challenges ahead. (Obama taking advice from a Republican? This would be quite a change).
But the problems that dogged Obama in his first term, which cast a long shadow over his 2008 campaign message of hope and change, still confront him. He must tackle the $1 trillion annual deficits, rein in the $16 trillion national debt, overhaul expensive social programs and deal with the split Congress. (More likely come 2016 we will be 20 trillion dollars in debt).
The immediate focus for Obama and U.S. lawmakers will be to confront the "fiscal cliff," a mix of tax increases and spending cuts due to extract some $600 billion from the economy at the end of the year barring a deal with Congress. (Recession is on the way).<<

What I find most worryingly is that the Tea-Party is thinking that they didn't lost the election and should be even more extreme next time.

Was it that the Tea Party lost the elections or that the 47% of the population on the dole won the election?
You may be able to shed some light on this, but the only thing I can see as the aim of the Tea Party was to rid the Republican party of the RINOs, the Republicans in Name Only, who vote with the Democrats. The Tea Party may be looked upon with suspicion by the Europeans since they are not socialistically oriented.

Where did you get the idea that the TP thinks they won? Personally, I have little use for anyone that REFUSES to compromise under any condition. I think the TP had/perhaps has the right idea but being 100% intransigent is not the way to get things done.

The problem is the emperor wants to cheat the system, bypass the Constitution and disregard the laws and prerogatives of Congress. If he can not get a political appointee in office, he waits until Congress is in recess and then makes the appointment. The last time he tried this, Congress was not officially in recess. I believe this may have been a violation of the Constitution.
If he can’t get Congress to pass his “cut and cap” tax legislation, he has the EPA mandate regulations. How dare Congress try to obstruct Him and his time schedule.

They won in their objective in that they were able to block several RINOs from office.

Just for your info - I went to one of my many doctors yesterday and, during the visit, he advised that he will be closing his practice, as he can not deal with the many regulations imposed by Obamacare. He was hoping it would be overturned with the election, but now accepts that, before there is a possibility of Obamacare being repealed, it will have become accepted by many, and the chance of repeal is negligible. Thus - he's closing his practice. Wonder how this is going to make health care more available to all

The Republicans lost three seats in the Senate when they needed to gain over three to establish a plurality. So there is no chance of getting any legislation past the Senate. It looks like we are stuck with Obamacare.
Since all medical practioneers will be paid the same under Obamacare regardless of specialty, many doctors will be leaving the profession or they will change locations.
