>>I know it's pollyanna, but it would be nice to see a candidate run as an "American" rather than as a member of any party. It would be interesting to see if that person could garner any votes. <<
I give you Ross Perot for one. And one has to call his followers a party to get on the ballot.
>>The TP does de facto conduct (negotiatons) with the Democrats in that they hold the GOP members who are beholding to them for their elections<<
Denny, you can do better than that. And how can one (the Tea Party) compromise when there are no negotiations?
And most of our elected officials soon forget just who put them in power. They seem to think that they did it on their own through charm, false hopes proper back slapping.

Well, possibly and certainly there are many others. But where are they? As far as I'm aware, whatever law that says a person must be in a "party" to become a candidate, is subject to change.>> The TP does de facto conduct (negotiatons) with the Democrats in that they hold the GOP members who are beholding to them for their elections<< Denny, you can do better than that. And how can one (the Tea Party) compromise when there are no negotiations? You just made my point. the TP is so rigid in their demands to potential candidates that there can't be negotiations (compromise). I, for one, don't agree that it is solely the Dems who refuse to negotiate. And most of our elected officials soon forget just who put them in power. They seem to think that they did it on their own through charm, false hopes proper back slapping. No argument there. I will admit to liking the good old boy system of leadership. It worked very well for me in the Army but it can be easily abused if the wrong person gets a wild hair up his butt.

This nation is in a mess I just hope we can keep from going completely down the shitter due to 4 more years of government interference! For instance, when Mrs Obama first mentioned her interest in improving school lunches I have to admit I was glad to hear it. NOW that I have seen the results of this INTERFERENCE I say what the hell! We pay a higher price for food that STILL ain’t up to par and the kids want even eat the shit. Thank you for nothing but more money out of my pocket that I can NOT afford and my kids coming home hungrier than ever Mrs Obama.
I agree with jerryfmcompushaft about Obamacrapl! Having spoken to people who’s countries have national health care the one thing that sticks out is the fact that when you use this health care you are put on a LONG waiting list. pfff By the time you see a Dr you have either died, got over it, or just accepted your ailment!

I haven't made up my mind on this, but I do know that, with socialized medicine, there are long waiting lines. So, while price caps can be good for us, we have to wait a long time, and that's not so good.

So, while price caps can be good for us, we have to wait a long time, and that's not so good. I figure no matter what we do, there will be advantages to some and disadvantages to others. But I do remember a cute story about a rich Canadian woman who came to the USA to get treatment right away for her problem. She said "USA. Please do NOT get a system like ours. If you do, where will I go next time?" IAC, I just hope ObmaCare works well for most. I figure like most major changes, some will benefit and some will lose. I doubt if I will notice much difference.Tom & I belong to Kaiser Permanente, a HMO (Health Maintenance Organization). -Don-

I think it will end up making more people who have the widsom to become great Dr go into some other field leaving us with Dr's that ain't up to par. I rather pay to get into see a Dr right away who made all A's on their report card than get a free visit (wait for a long long time) to see a Dr that got Ds.

How do you folks think Obamacare will affect the small capitalist like local mom and pop store owners? They should get more customers, so it should work out fine for them. -Don-

The extra cost will sink many mom-and-pops.

How do you reckon this will give them more customers? More people will be covered under ObamaCare. Where will they be going for their coverage? Nice to meet you too. -Don-

Since this is a MILITARY forum and we are discussing healthcare, I will address a question to Jerry, the only other retired military person I know of on this forum.
Jerry,
How will Obamacare affect you and me, if at all? As long as we have both Medicare and TFL - and who knows how long that will last - we should be unaffected, shouldn't we? I still have a healthy (no pun intended) health annuity provided by my civilian employer, but if I were to rely totally on that, one good size surgery would wipe it out.
