China entered the Korean War because they did not want a U.S. present next door to them in making this decision they gambled that the U.S. would not use nukes .

A fair bet too I would think.
Truman was not stupid, in fact the opposite, and he knew that his decision in 1945 could not be repeated over China with any real justification. He could not also be seen to be bullied into it by a Republican called MacArthur.

Nuke cannon developed by U.S. , was a stick waved by the U.S. and no doubt China took notice , but by that time the situtation had basicly been resolved

North Korea lobbed three missiles, then a fourth one. Sigh. How much do we have to pay this time?

Bombing by itself doesn't work. The Germans didn't surrender until the Soviets took Berlin, and the Japanese weren't going to surrender until their emperor suggested it.

Bombing never worked, neither in WW2 on both siders, nor in Korea nor Vietnam, Kosovo or Iraq.

I was thinking about that, but the atomic bombings didn't work until the Emperor suggested a surrender. As I read history, the Japanese Army didn't want to surrender even then.

During my time at Sumitomo Shoji as a young man a friend and colleague who was British used to get into heated arguements with his Japanese department head, a former WW2 submarine commander, my friend younger and a former British Army officer who did not serve in WW2. As they reached the point of absolute frustration my British friend would be heard to shout loudly, N San, we won the bloody war. N San would stomp away muttering in Japanese and the other Japs would laugh.
Reminds me of a POW WW2 Malaysia story about a Japanese camp Commanding Office who was addressing a gathering of POWs lecturing them about their behaviour. He said "you men think that I know f*ck nothing, well you are wrong, I know f*ck all.

The 'Manhattan' production rate was about one bomb per week in August 1945, the next bomb was awaiting assembly on Tinian, and could have been used about 15th to 20th August. The 4th would be ready by end of August. There were I think, 7 cities on the target list.
Truman had every intention of forcing the issue to a full "unconditional" surrender.
Hirohito did not "suggest" a surrender, he forced his decision on the military leaders. They were deadlocked, he cut the Gordion Knot.
...and Speer did NOT agree that the bombing of Germany was ineffective. Residents of Hamburg would know that.

That's probably the only intelligent thing Hirohito ever did , but his really BIG moment came when he met General MacArthur .
